Interview with Shakira - 'What's the size of my hips? No comments!!!

Saucy and sexy Shakira lets us get up close and personal with her... almost.

Latina singing and dancing sensation Shakira is here in Mumbai to do just that... sing and dance and entertain those crazy enough about her to pay huge entrance fees and brave snarling traffic jams to reach the Bandra Kurla Complex where she is performing tonight.

In an exclusive interview to us about belly dancing, song-writing and her Spanish connection, she bares her soul, but stays mum bout the size of her hips! Shakira, incidentally, has been brought down to Mumbai by Nokia which believes not only in connecting people, but also getting them in touch with their passions.

And music, according to the Latina entertainer herself, is an universal passion. It is the most common language than brings people closer. Thank-you, Nokia. And welcome, Shakira.

This is your first visit to India. What are you most looking forward to here?
I'm looking forward to performing in front of all of my fans.

Your lyrics are unusual. Do you deliberately attempt to be different?
I pen the lyrics of most of my songs myself. I feel very attached to the songs I write. Music is a means of me expressing myself. It's very important to me, so I like to control what I give to the public.

How would you describe your belly dancing?
As a beautiful form of expression. I've been belly dancing since I was a child and it came very naturally to me. I guess it's in my blood.

One thing Mumbai doesn't know about Shakira...
I'm very, very shy.

Singing in Spanish or English, which gives you greater satisfaction?
Spanish is my native tongue and I've been speaking/ singing/ performing in it longer. But I now feel equally comfortable writing and singing in English.

Your hips don't lie. So, what are the size of your hips?

Do you listen to your own music while at home or in the car?

I listen to all types of music. I'm probably more of a rock fan than anything else.

If you could work on a song with any singer in the world, who would you choose?

There are many artists that I love and respect and I can't name one as inspiration.

What are you like 5 minutes before going on stage?
I warm up and stretch and spend some quiet time with my own thoughts.
